Dr. Baine Awarded 2015 Donald W. Zantop Emerging Leader Award
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Katherine Baine, the head of our Avian and Exotics department, is the recipient of the 2015 Donald W. Zantop Emerging Leader Award by the Association of Avian Veterinarians (AAV) for her work in avian medicine.
Recipients were selected based on the following criteria:
- Leadership
- Education of veterinarians, veterinary students, and technicians
- Dissemination of knowledge and expertise through various forms of media including print or video
- Development of innovative research ideas, techniques, or products that advance avian medicine and surgery
- Promotion of avian medicine and surgery
- Involvement in AAV
In addition to her presentations, publications, and completion of a residency, Dr. Baine has also started to become involved in the AAV as the auction coordinator that raises money for the Avian Research Fund. She has been instrumental in recruiting many young veterinarians to join committees within the association. Dr. Baine is a leader in the field of avian medicine and her early career has set the groundwork for some great developments. AAV looks forward to Dr. Baine making great strides in the field of avian medicine and surgery.
